The Decomposition Round
You get a vague real-world problem. Ask clarifying questions, break into sub-problems, prioritize, propose approach, discuss trade-offs.
Example: A city wants to reduce 911 response times. How would you approach this?
Tips
- Practice explaining thought process out loud
- Study graph algorithms
- Read about Gotham, Foundry, AIP
- Prepare examples of working with non-technical stakeholders
- Show genuine curiosity about hard problems
