Scope creep is probably the number one challenge FDEs face.

    Common Scenarios

    • Client asks for one more feature that turns into a month of work
    • Stakeholders have conflicting priorities
    • The original project scope keeps expanding

    Strategies That Work

    1. Document everything - Written scope agreements protect everyone
    2. Say yes, then prioritize - We can do that, let us figure out where it fits
    3. Make trade-offs visible - If we add X, we push Y. Which matters more?
    4. Regular check-ins with your manager - They can push back at a higher level
    5. Time-box exploration - Let me spend 2 hours looking into feasibility

What are your strategies for managing scope?
